"Four Eagles" They Did Not Die In Vain

         "Four Eagles"

My friends didn't fall, they stood up.
They didn't surrender, they were ambushed, dragged down, tortured and murdered.
They didn't jump, they flew with the Eagles.
They didn't lose the fight, they bought time for the victory.
They paid with their time, with their lives.
They bargained for one second more, before the closing door.
One second was the difference.
The war within a war.
I remember them as soldiers.
They did not die in vain.

Don Robbins- "In remembrance of Turkey 1977." They did not die in vain.

"Memorial" abstract by Don Robbins
*In remembrance of the four soldiers that were murdered while on an aid mission in Turkey in 1977.
They had just passed high altitude paratrooper training.
(They gave their lives to buy time so others (civilian hostages) might live.
Their government turned their back on them. They were forgotten by the military they served.
I did not forget their sacrifice. I will never forget.
