Boycott?- Leave It Up To The Athletes- We Can Host Competition -

Opening Ceremony Boycott? Finland. *(LNK)

"Blatter says boycott would change nothing." Boycott article at Reuters- Blatter Olympics statements*(LNK)
"Calls Olympians cowards for boycotting. That to boycott is to surrender."

Johnny Weir Olympic Skater makes a good point: Pros and Cons (Boycott or not to boycott?) **(LNK)

This is my opinion: When it is a matter of discrimination that's one thing. When it's a matter of hate, that's another.

In the case or Russia and Putin, I think it's a matter of hate.

Making a camaraderie and a joviality out of verbal abuse in discriminating is the key point.

Sometimes it's attitude of arrogance that separates the levels of criminal behaviors.
When activities are left unchecked that are based on hate and violence becomes acceptable, with verbal abuse in the mainstream society, along with leaders in government,
then it's not a matter of  just discrimination.

It becomes a matter of importance to the many.

"Sometimes the needs of the many outweigh the wants of the few."
"Sometimes the needs of the few outweigh the needs of the many."

In this case it's a matter of accept or not accept. That it is a forced issue. That it has been made a political issue. A matter of whether it is acceptable, or not. The answer; is, not.

I believe that in this case the athletes should be given a choice to have a normal Olympic competition in another country. To simply move the competition for their particular sport into another country.
They still get to compete. They still get the media attention. They are just in a better climate, so to speak.

They can go to Sochi after their competitions are over. If they want to.

We could host any fallout competitions here in the states and Canada.

It should be up to the athletes, this time, let's see what they say.
